“What you are now, we once were; what we are now, you shall be.”

The quote above can be found in a crypt below a Roman church called Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini. A memento mori; ‘remember that you will die’.

Secretly In Love

Right now I am lovin’ Wes Anderson. I watched Moonrise Kingdom the other day and it was incredible, it will sit alongside Fantastic Mr Fox in my head and I will laugh with joy whenever I think of them. Seriously check them both out if you haven’t already. (Check this earlier post I wrote about Mr Fox).

So when I found this inspired art of The Royal Tenenbaums I had to share. Hope you like as much as I do! Artwork by Nan Lawson which is also buy-able.

Elephants are not sexy

“What you gonna do with all that junk all that junk inside your trunk?”

Who are we kidding elephants are NOT sexy. That are adorable and have been know to play the flute or paint pretty pictures, but they are not sexy. This was a Valentine’s Day card to the boy, I thought I’d make it this year. It is pretty much ripped off from one of my pinterest find called ‘Thirsty Elephant’  by Terry Fan

p.s. sorry for all the posts today, I am not even that into Valentine’s Day. I just missed blogging.

2012 Romantic Report

Okay just found this and wow, I didn’t know WordPress had a romantic side.

Let me rewind a second…because this blog got 10,000 views in 2012 the little elfs that work at WordPress made me an annual report!  Which is the cutest thing ever, I feel so professional. Thank you WordPress, and most importantly thank you people out there that occasionally say hello to my blog. You have made this shark-hoodie-wearing, banoffe-pie-eating, first-time-blogger feel very special indeed. (Phew, that was a lot of dashes).

To celebrate I have attached an illustration that sums up me, and my blog. Yes, it is of an octopus juggling (what looks like) Brussels sprouts. As you may have already guessed, I like weird, in fact – I encourage it. Thanks to Anneka Tran for this Toy Story 3 inspired number.

If you are interested in looking at the ‘report’ click below, but for now I will just continue to blush.

Breaking the Obvious

Sly Dolphins

Alas, I cannot sleep, there is too much to think about. And when I cannot sleep I think about all the big things in life, like can you make home-made spam, why are Hippos so angry and are Dolphins really just gay sharks? Of course I know  they are not gay sharks, but while we are on the subject I believe there is something suppositious about them. They always smiling like they know a secret, they click their mouths every 5 seconds like a dog trainer and have tiny pegs for teeth. No, I don’t trust them.

So when I found this ‘factual’ illustration about Dolphins my supposition were confirmed. Listen in for the secrets of the trade:

Ahh…If only you could actually wear underwear in October

Welcome to the month of feet, washing machines and Lasagne, (well according to this calendar anyway).  I may not be able to speak French but even I know that there are 31 days in October. How dare they shaft us out of Halloween, the almost best day of the year!

…After the anger I hope you love this little illustration as much as I do. Press here for more of the same.

creepy hug of the day

Good afternoon, I found a cool!

This hugtastic piece is by visual artist/illustrator Lim Heng Swee. Check out more on this website, go on, knock yourself out.

I’ve been doing this blog for about 6 months now and I really enjoy finding great illustrations and creations from the five corners of the internet. So I think I want to start drawing and see what comes out. And maybe one day I can be someone else’s find. Even if it is just to laugh at.
I’ll keep you updated… Shoddy sketches to be expected.

Sharp Rain

Love this little guy. He is my new buddy and I shall name him Stu.

Stu was designed by Dimitar Tassev as a  theatre poster for young performers around 1971/2. Adda boy Stu, just look at him go!

The poster is entitled ‘Polychrome bird, blue ‘rain.’’ …I didn’t know what that word meant so I googled it, don’t judge me 🙂

I like the ruler straight lines for rain, they look sharp. Although whenever it rains on me the rain come from a 2’o’clock angle straight into my face. I guess Stu has all the luck!
